I've been working full time at my new job and am getting settled into a rhythm. The work isn't easy, but it really is a lot of fun. So I've done quite a few interesting things since my last post. One of my teachers at OxfordTEFL is also a singer. Two weeks ago Friday I went and saw her perform with a guitar player; they were both amazing. Think kinda Jazzy, kinda Irish (they're both Irish), with some truly amazing folk guitar. Then, on Saturday, I went to my first European soccer game. The teams were Bohemia 1905, who I'm now a fan of because that's who everyone I know roots for, and Slavia. Both teams are based in Prague, so it was a big game. The game ended in a tie, 1-1, but it was still very exciting. The crowd was extremely enthusiastic; I recorded a few of their many chants. Then, on Sunday, I played Ultimate Frisbee with a group of mainly fellow English teachers and watched some American football, which is always fun. There are only a couple of places to watch American football in Prague, so on Sunday these places a filled with very excited football fans, which is a lot of fun. Then, Monday was St. Wencesles Day (as in Good King Wencesles), who is the patron Saint of the Czech Republic, so we had the day off. I needed it after such a busy weekend.
I should be starting Czech classes soon; they're being organized at work and hopefully they will start next week, but its not in stone yet. I've made a lot of progress on getting my Visa, which is not easy to do. I have till November 1st, then my tourist Visa expires. I've applied for my work permit, which is the first step, and I'm nearly ready to apply for the long term Visa. I may going sightseeing at a really cool castle just a 40min train ride out of Prague soon, so there may be some really cool pictures coming. You all feel free to ask me any questions about what I'm doing or what things are like over here; I'd be glad to answer. Enjoy some video & pics...

ReplyDeleteMiss you!
Hey Tim,
ReplyDeleteYour mama posted a castle pic! It is beautiful there. Don't you just love how old everything is, and it is still standing!!!!
We visited the original gate to Kyiv in the middle of the city. It was so old I was overwhelmed with the history that must have passed through there.
Touching it, feeling it, walking over it, was a real experience. Maybe it is just me, but being there makes you feel such a part of history; something important.
